As part of the 10th installment of the Doernbecher Freestyle Collection, Missy Miller's Nike Free 5.0 GG 'Doernbecher' features Miller's favorite colors and details inspired by the New York City skyline—a place the aspiring actress hopes to see her name in lights. Her big sister, Laurie, was also a Doernbecher designer, but tragically passed away to a brainstem tumor when Missy was five. Missy herself was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes and an atrial septum defect in 2013. Laurie's initials are printed on one of the tongues, while a hand icon on the other signifies the blood tests Missy undergoes to monitor her diabetes. Original purchases of this shoe raised funds for the OHSU Doernbecher Children's Hospital.
