The Nike Air Tailwind debuted at the Honolulu Marathon in 1978 and released to the public in 1979; it holds the title as the very first shoe to utilize Nike Air technology. Staying true to the original's design, the June 2019 Air Tailwind 79 'Antarctica' sneaker is constructed of a nylon upper protected by a suede mudguard and heel overlay.
