2001 marked the initial release of the New Balance 991. An updated version of the 990 originally released in 1982, the 991 boasted an improved ABZORB midsole for bonus cushion and support. Honoring the legacy, the updated 991 is dressed in 'Grey' and retains the mesh and suede upper of the original while adding a boosted midsole design for a contemporary look and feel. An understated 'N' logo in Navy highlights the sidewall and matches the '991' embroidered on the heel to finalize the style.
